The beaches in and around Trancoso are great. It is as simple as that

Some are totally deserted and with access only by foot, bicycle, horse or boat, others are lively and blessed with the wonderful brazilian beachculture. You find yourself your favorite beach for the day, hang out, walk, swim, work out, dance, play ball, eat, drink or just lie down to tan. Whatever you like. Nudism and topless is allowed on one stretch of beach only (Vegetal/Pedra Grande), but is not compulsory or even widely practized.

For your comfort we have mapped down the whole stretch of beaches from Taípe 7 km to the north of Trancoso down to the hamlets of Caraiva, way to the south - a total stretch of 50 km prime tropical beach, fringed with coconutpalmtrees and turquoise waters. The walk from Trancoso to Arraial d´Ajuda would take you about 2 ½ hours.

* Check out the beaches: distances by foot from the Quadrado. You can walk to all of the beaches, excluding a few during high tide. Some have access by car, but many are reached only by foot, horse or boat.
