Going
north from Rio de Trancoso:
Praia do Taipe:
5-7 km. Below the cliffs, on top of which
you´ll find the huge hotel/condominium
complex Terra Vista with a golf-course and
a Club Med (open for dayvisits). Access along
the beach at low tide or by car.
Rio da Barra: 4-5 km. North
of the Rio da Barra. You can cross the river
by foot, but take care at high tide. Access
along the beach or by car.
Praia dos Nativos: 1-4 km,
the first part is lively with a cluster of
beachbars, that also caters to daytour tourists
from Porto Seguro. Access along the beach
or by car.
Going south from Rio de Trancoso:
Praia dos Coqueiros: 1-2 km.
Calm waters protected by reefs. Ideal for
kids. Lively beachbarracas. Access along the
beach or by car.
Praia Vegetal/Pé na Praia/Rio Verde/Pedra
Grande: 2-3 km. Lots of different
names to this popular beach, an extension
of Praia dos Coqueiros. Several laid back
beachbars. Access along the beach or by car.
Praia
Itapororoca: 3-4 km.
Praia Itaquena: 4-10
km.
Barra Rio dos Frades: 10-12 km.
Beautiful wetlands with buffalos and lots
of birds. You´ll pass it on the dirtroad
connecting Trancoso and Caraiva/Espelho.
Praia Jacumá:
12-16 km. Deserto. No beachbars.
Access only along the beach or by boat.
Praia do Outeiro:
16-19 km.
Praia dos Amores: 19-20 km.
Praia Curuipe and Praia do Espelho:
20-23 km. Separated by a small river, the
two beaches are considered amongst the top
5 beaches in Brazil. They are truly fantastic,
but no longer deserted. With high coconutpalmtrees,
crystalclear waters and reefs they are a must
during your visit to Trancoso. Go there by
boat, by horse, by feet or drive there.
Praia
Juracema: 23-27 km.
Praia Satu:
27-29 km.
Barra
da Caraiva: 29-36 km.
Praia
de Caraiva: 36-38 km.
A small hamlet located on a sandy triangle
between the River Caraiva and the ocean. The
beach has several bars and restaurants. From
Caraiva you can go up the river by dugout
canoe or trek into the Monte Pascoal National
Park with a guide.
