Trips & Excursions:

While staying in Trancoso you may choose to get to know other parts of the beautiful "Costa de Descobrimento". This is where Brazils "modern" history began, when the portuguese spotted the Monte Pascoal just south of Trancoso in 1500. You can visit the regions small villages, beaches, preserved nature and hidden corners, where life goes on the brazilian way - hardly influenced by tourism. The Trancoso Charme pousadas can inform you about individual trips and arranged excursions.

Boat-trip: Leaving from Praia dos Coqueiros - depending on a minimum number of people, boats go to the wonderful beach Espelho-Curuipe or even further to the carateristic village of Caraiva. It lies in fantastic surroundings just next to the Monte Pascoal National Park, which is also a reservation run by the Pataxo-indians. From Porto Seguro there is a daily 2-hour boattrip to go snorkeling at the corals Recife de Fora. Rivertrips in kayak also available.

On a longer individual haul (3 days/2 nights) you could go to Abrolhos to dive or snorkel - or just see the whales from the boat (Whale-season: June through November).

Minibus or 4WD: Beautiful 4WD-trips takes you by an old dirtroad through jungle and wetlands to Rio das Frades and Vale dos Buffalos, the indian village of Itaporanga and on to Espelho Beach. You can go as far as Caraiva and from there enter the Monte Pascoal Nationalpark. By minibus there are tours to Arraial d'Ajuda as well as the historic centers of Porto Seguro, Coroa Vermelha e Santa Cruz de Cabralia.

Horseriding or mountainbike-trips: The most natural and traditional way of discovering the Trancoso-region is by horse or bicycle - in harmony with nature. Overnight trips available.

Beach Tour: One full day dedicated to the wonderful beaches. From Praia Pedra Grande to Praia Rio da Barra, Taipe and Pitinga.

Helicopter flights are also possible.
